The Orenda engineering support group provides extensive engineering support services to large fleet operators. This activity includes the Canadian Forces fleet of J85 turbojet and F404 turbofan engines.

The type of support provided consists of the following elements:

• Provision of technical advice and recommendations on a broad range of topics, such as:
   
• Operating limits
• Life limits and component fallout predictions
• Engine and component reliability
• Maintenance requirements and intervals
• Inspection limit changes
• Technical publications
• Interpretation of technical manuals
• Component procurement recommendations
   
• Maintenance of engineering configuration control database, i.e., parts list, generation of modifications/Engineering Change Proposals/drawing amendments
• Technical investigations, ranging from simple component failures to complete engine accidents/crashes
• Technical support to customer operational sites
• Provision of engineering expertise to the repair and overhaul shops for recommendations/Material Review Board (MRB) activities
• Generation of repair schemes for unserviceable conditions on hardware returned from the field.  The repair scheme development will generally utilize existing technologies and be designed for the customer's particular capabilities
• Maintenance of fleet lifed parts database and tracking system
